Sharpening Stone for Secateurs
- Description
- CARE GUIDE
The sharpening stone for secateurs is a thin whetstone that allows you to sharpen your secateurs or scissors without disassembling them. It is processed to be thin so that it can fit into narrow gaps between the blades, making it possible to sharpen scissors and blades of all shapes.
Take care of your secateurs & scissors:
Use rust remover to remove rust and dirt from the blade’s surface.
Start by gently scrubbing off dirt in the form and direction of the blade.
Then use the sharpening stone at a fixed angle to sharpen the top of the blade so it becomes sharp again. Sharpen by pulling the stone towards you. Soak the stone in water for about 15 minutes before use.
Make sure the secateurs are completely dry before you apply oil. Moisture can lead to rust, so it’s important that all parts, especially joints and hinges, are dry.
Apply rust protection oil directly to the secateurs’ joints and hinges. This helps keep the mechanism smooth and prevents the metal from wearing out or rusting.
After you have lubricated all parts, use a dry cloth to wipe away the excess oil. Leave only a thin oily film on the secateurs to provide rust protection.
Store the secateurs in a dry place, preferably in a case or on a hook where they are not exposed to moisture. This further reduces the risk of rust formation.
Maintenance: You should repeat the process regularly, especially if you use the secateurs often or if you work in damp environments. By oiling and cleaning regularly, you keep the secateurs in good condition and avoid rusting and wear.
