Eggplant 'Striped Toga' is a beautiful old variety with 6-7 cm long, oval fruits that ripen to yellow and orange with green stripes. It’s a great summer plant that can yield a large harvest. The fruits have a strong flavor but no bitterness. It grows tall and must be staked.
Seed quantity: Approximately 20 per packet.
Sowing time: February–March.
Seed depth: 0.5 cm.
Location: Sunny.
Height: Approx. 150-170 cm.
Color: Orange, green.
Germination time: 7-21 days.
Planting distance: 60 cm.
Harvest time: July–October.
Sow indoors from February–March at 20–25°C. Keep the soil moist until the plants have established. Use a transparent lid with ventilation holes. Place in a bright and slightly cooler location after germination. Harden off and plant out in a greenhouse or a warm outdoor spot once the risk of frost has passed. Pinch out the growing tips when the plant reaches 30 cm in height to encourage branching.
