Climbing Nasturtium 'Purple Emperor' is a vigorous, trailing variety with uniquely colored flowers in purple hues that gradually fade to soft powder pink. Excellent to grow against a trellis or fence as well as in flower beds, pallet collars and large pots. Flowers and leaves have a peppery flavour. Easy to grow. Popular with bees, butterflies and bumblebees!
Sowing time: April - June.
Sowing depth: 2 cm.
Location: Sun- partial shade.
Height: approx. 150-180 cm.
Colour: Purple, pink.
Growing time: 7-14 days.
Planting distance: 25 cm.
Flowering time: July - September.
Type of plant: Annual.
Sow directly where they will bloom in May–June. Keep the soil moist until the plants are established. For earlier flowers, sow indoors in April. Use moist seed compost and cover with a transparent lid with ventilation holes. Place in a bright, cool spot after germination. Harden off and plant out when the risk of frost has passed. Avoid excessive fertilization, as it promotes leaf growth over flowers.
