Allium nigrum - Black Garlic
Height: 70 cm. Black Garlic forms semi-spherical flowers in May-June. The name comes from the black ovary that forms pearls in the flower. Since the foliage emerges before the flower and fades before blooming, it should be planted among perennials that can hide the wilting leaves.
The bulbs are planted in September-October about 15 cm deep and 10 cm apart. It pairs beautifully with coral bells, hostas, and ferns. Deer-resistant.
Bulb size: 10/12
Contains 5 bulbs.
Plant in September–October, 15 cm deep and 10 cm apart in well-drained soil and full sun. Foliage emerges early and fades before flowering, so plant among perennials to mask wilting leaves. Water moderately during the growing season. Allium nigrum blooms in May–June with semi-spherical flowers and striking black ovaries. Deer-resistant and ideal for borders, naturalistic plantings, or as a cut flower.
