The 'Purple Romagna' artichoke is a striking edible variety with a purple globe shape and fine taste. With its large thistle-like flower heads and many culinary uses, it is an obvious vegetable to grow, while providing an impressive architectural presence in the garden. The tender petals, which have a pleasant taste, are served with clarified butter.
